In this blog, I am going to tell you some interesting facts about women’s day, Sarojini Niadu, popular and great women. As we know that a Women plays many different roles in male  lives for father as daughter, for brother as sister, for son as mother, she has to take care of all of them with all her heart. Information about Women’s Day:

8th March is international women day. This was organized on February 28, 1909 by socialist party of America in New York. In some countries llike Afganistan, Cambodia, China , etc. there are official holidays for women. There are official themes by UN every year such as “celebrating the past, planning for the future”, “Women and Human Rights”, “Women in Decision- making”, “Think equal, Built smart, Inovate for change.”

National Women’s Day in India:

International Women’s Day is celebreated on 8th March but in India Women’s day is celebrated on 13th February to remember one of the Indian political activists Sarojini Naidu. She was a poet and earned the nickname Nightingale of India for her poetry. She was not just a poet but also an important figure in India’s struggle for independence from colonial rule.

Who was Sarojini Naidu:

She was born on 13th Ferbruary 1879 in Hyderabad(now known as Telangana) and belongs to a Bengali family. She was a poet-writter and political activist, she focused on poetry which includes children’s poems and others written on more serious themes including patriotism, romance, and tragedy. In the “Bazaars of Hydrerabad” which was pulished in 1912 was one of her most popular poems. She became the first woman to hold the office of Governor in the Dominion of India in 1947.

Family Backgrouds of Sarojini Niadu:

She belongs to a well recorganized family of Hyderabad. Sarojini Naidu was born in Hyderabad and started writing poems from a very little age of 12. Her father, Aghorenath Chattopadhyay is a bengali brahmin who was the principal of the Nizam’s College in Hedrabad and he was educated from Edinburgh University which is was in Hyderabad and settled there but him hometown was in Bikrampur which is well know by the name Bangladesh. Sarojini Naidu’s mother, Barada Sundari Devi Chattopadhyay was also a poet and she wrote poetry in Bengali. Sarojini Naidu was the eldest of the eight among all of her parents childrens. Virendranath Chattopadhyay was a revolutionary, Harindranath was a poet, dramatist, and an actor, Leela Naidu was an Indian actress and her sister, Suhasini Chattopadhyay was an Indian communist leader and freedom fighter. Sarojini Naidu died because of cardiac arrest on 2 March 1949.

Savitribai Phule:

She got married at  a very early age of her life i.e when she was 13 years old. She dedicated her life for the education of women. She was the first female teacher of India, Jyotirao Phule, her husband educated her at home. After her education, she started traching girls at Pune. She also worked hard against caste and gender discrimination.

Kalpana Chawla:

Kalpana Chawla was the first woman of India to go to space. She flew twice in the space. First in 1997 and second time in 2003. Kalpana Chawla died on 1st February 2003 in space during re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. The P.M of India renamed series of satellities as “Kalpana” on 5th February, 2003. In New Youk Uniited States there is a street which is renamed as ” Kalpana Chawla Way “. There are many Institues and Award besed on her memorial.

Laxmi Agarwal:

She is an acid attack survivor and also known for ” stop sale acid”. At the age of 16, a boy named Naeem Khan, threw acid on her. After that she did many campainge against sale of acid. Due to which the supreme court has ordered the central and state government to regulate the sale of acid. She is also director of a NGO which is dedicated to help acid attack survivors.

Kiran Bedi:

She is a retired police officer, she is the first woman to join Indian Police Service IPS in 1972 she remained in the service for 35 years as she brought reduction in crimes against women.

Lata Mangeshkar:

She is an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer, she has recorded songs for over a thousand hindi films and has sung songs in over 36 regional Indian languages and foreign languages she has been awarded with Bharat Ratna.

Indra Nooyi:

She is an American business executive and current chairperson and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, she was ranked at number 13 on the list of Forbes world’s hundred most powerful women 

Mary Kom:

She is an Olympic Indian boxer hailing from Manipur, she is a five-time world winning boxing champion and the only woman boxer that have won a medal in each one of the six World Championships

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:

She is a Bollywoood actor and in earlier time for her career, she has established herself as one of the most popular and influential celebrities in India the lie has received numerous awards and was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009. She has also been called the most beautiful woman in the world 

Deepa Malik :

She is an Indian athlete, she is the first Indian woman to win a medal in parallel on big games and won a silver medal in 2016 in the short put and  she is also associated with Himalayan Motorsports association H M.

Neerja Bhanot:

Ninja was pursued for the airline Pan American World Airways based in Mumbai India, she lost her life trying to save passengers on flight which was hijacked by the terrorists during a stopover in Karachi, Pakistan. She became the youngest person of India’s highest peacetime award for bravery, the Ashoka Chakra award .
